SINGAPORE – Most Singaporeans – about 70 per cent of those eligible – have yet to tap the one-off $500 SkillsFuture Credit top-up that will expire on Dec 31, 2025, with just over six months to go.

Since the top-up was introduced in October 2020, about 721,000 Singaporeans, or 28 per cent of those eligible, have used it, said SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) in response to queries from The Straits Times on June 17.

Only 28 per cent of eligible Singaporeans have tapped the one-off $500 SkillsFuture Credit top-up.

The Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) is a national credential system that trains, develops, assesses, and certifies skills and competencies for Singapore’s workforce. 3. Where is the training held? Is there an online version of these courses?

SOQ International Academy is conveniently located in International Plaza, Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD), easily accessible by Tanjong Pagar MRT. Most of our training is conducted on-site, ensuring a highly practical and hands-on learning experience with real models, case studies, and interactive guidance. Selected Diploma courses may also offer online or blended learning options for added flexibility.

4. How do I register as a self-sponsored individual?

You may sign up directly for any course of interest through our website or consultation team. After registration, our course consultants will assist you in:

Verifying your eligibility for funding and subsidies (up to 70% or more)
Confirming your preferred course dates
Calculating your final net course fee

5. Are there requirements for passing the course?

Yes. Learners must maintain at least 75% attendance to remain eligible for subsidies.

For WSQ courses with assessments, participants must also complete and pass the required assessment.
Please note that full course fees remain non-refundable regardless of the grade.

6. What certifications will I receive after completing a course?

Depending on the course, you will receive either a WSQ Statement of Attainment, an iTEC/VTCT UK Diploma, SOQ Diploma or Certificate of Completion. These qualifications are recognized locally and internationally, strengthening your professional profile.

7. Can I use SkillsFuture Credit or UTAP for SOQ courses?

Yes. Many of our WSQ courses are SkillsFuture Credit-eligible. You may also be eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) funding or SFEC (SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit), depending on your status. Our consultants will guide you through the funding application process.
