Entry Requirements

✔️At least 16 years old
✔️Academic Requirement: At least a Grade C6 (Min 50 Percent) at O-Level in any 3 subjects or matured candidate who is 30 years old with at least 8 years of relevant working experience.
✔️Language Requirement: At least a Grade 5 (Min 50 Percent) at N-Level English or IELTS 4.5

✔️Dates of the examination to be announced during course.
✔️All amount stated are in Singapore Dollars (SGD), and no GST.
✔️Registration Fees refer to the price that the student pays the school for the sole purpose of processing the application requirements, and it is non-refunable.
✔️The maximum allowed period for a student to complete the course is 18 months from first date of course
✔️The Course Fee are non-refundable, unless there is no future class commence date by SOQ International Academy
✔️The minimum number of students that is required before a class commences is 6 pax, in the event the class cannot commence due to low take up rate, SOQ International Academy will notify the students at least 7 days in advance and provide an alternate commerce date.
✔️Local Student refers to Singaporean Citizens & Permanent Residents
✔️We do not issue Student Passes. “International Student” refers to individuals holding a valid Work Pass or any other long-term permit that allows them to reside legally in Singapore throughout the duration of their studies.

-Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least eight (8) years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness OR case-by-case basis through an interview, taking into account factors such as relevance of experience, learning readiness, career planning, and other relevant considerations. SOQ reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

MODULE 1: Health and Safety Practice in the Salon

This module introduces learners to essential health, safety, and hygiene standards within a salon environment. Students will learn how to maintain a clean and safe workspace, handle tools and products correctly, and follow proper sanitation and infection control procedures — ensuring the well-being of both clients and professionals.

MODULE 2: Provide Professional Makeup

Learners will develop the technical and creative skills needed to perform a wide range of professional makeup applications — including day, evening, bridal, and fashion looks. The module covers facial analysis, colour theory, product selection, and makeup for different skin tones and occasions, with hands-on practice on live models to build real-world confidence.

MODULE 3: Professional Conduct and Business Awareness

Students will learn effective communication, customer service, and ethical conduct, as well as how to manage client relationships, promote services, and explore entrepreneurship opportunities in the beauty and makeup industry.

On-Job Training (OJT)

During the On-Job Training (OJT), learners will have the opportunity to apply their skills in real working environments, performing makeup and hairstyling for actual clients, events, or professional projects. This hands-on experience helps build confidence and industry readiness. In certain cases, an allowance may be provided based on the nature of the assignment or event.

What is this diploma about?

This Diploma in Makeup equips learners with professional makeup and hairstyling skills for beauty, fashion, and media industries. The course blends theory with hands-on practice on live models, covering bridal, fashion, and creative looks. It also builds client communication, hygiene, and business skills — preparing graduates for careers in salons, studios, TV/film, or their own beauty business.

Are tools and materials included?

Yes. Classroom-use tools and materials are provided for use during practical sessions.
However, the exact items included may vary by course. Learners are advised to check with the Course Consultant for the detailed list of tools and materials provided.

Is model practice included?

Learners are required to source their own models in accordance with the requirements stated in the Portfolio of Evidence (Case Studies). For learners who require assistance, the school can help arrange models at a charge of $80 per model (per pax), subject to availability.

If I need more practical sessions, what should I do?

Yes. Learners may request to extend their practical sessions by informing the school in advance. All additional sessions are subject to trainer availability. The school will provide the necessary facilities for the approved extended practical sessions.

What is On-Job Training (OJT)?

On-Job Training (OJT) is a practical learning experience that allows students to apply what they’ve learned in real salon or studio settings. During OJT, learners perform actual makeup tasks under supervision — gaining confidence, improving speed and technique, and understanding how to work with real clients in a professional environment.

Is there a salary during On-Job Training (OJT)?

There is no salary during the OJT period, as it is a training component of the course. However, learners will have opportunities to participate in real assignments such as events, bridal, or personal makeup sessions. In some cases, a training allowance like transport allowance or meal allowance may be provided, depending on the nature of the project and arrangement.

Are there funding / subsidies available?

Currently, this course is not eligible for government funding or subsidies.
However, we offer a flexible monthly installment plan to make payment more manageable. You can speak with our course consultant to find an installment option that best fits your budget and schedule.

Is attendance / assessment strict?

You’ll likely need to maintain a minimal 75% attendance rate to qualify for exams or assessments. Assessments may include assignments, presentations, final exams.

What if I want to defer, withdraw, or switch course mid-way?

We understand that plans can change! Requests for deferment, withdrawal, or course transfer are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Learners are given up to 18 months to complete the course, so there’s flexibility to pause and resume your studies within that period.
